Enrich candidate profiles in Claude and Cursor
Short answer: Add RecruitMCP as an MCP server in Claude or Cursor, then ask the agent to enrich a profile. It calls enrich_profiles and returns the full public professional profile, including experience and education. Email and phone are a separate step: find_contact_details.
1. Set your key
export RECRUITMCP_KEY=rmcp_live_xxxx
2. Connect
Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json):
{
"mcpServers": {
"recruitmcp": {
"url": "https://mcp.recruitmcp.com/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:RECRUITMCP_KEY}" }
}
}
}
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http recruitmcp https://mcp.recruitmcp.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer ${RECRUITMCP_KEY}"
or in .mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"recruitmcp": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.recruitmcp.com/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${RECRUITMCP_KEY}" }
}
}
}
claude.ai uses OAuth: add a custom connector with https://mcp.recruitmcp.com/mcp and paste your key on the consent page.
3. Ask
Enrich these 5 candidates and summarise their last two roles.
Cached profiles come back right away. Otherwise a job is queued; the agent polls get_people_job until it completes.
Same call over HTTP
curl -X POST "https://api.recruitmcp.com/v1/people:enrich" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer ${RECRUITMCP_KEY}" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"profile_ids":["<profile id from search>"]}'
FAQ
Does enrich return email and phone?
No. Enrich returns the full public professional profile. Use find_contact_details to find email and phone; a miss is free.
Why does Cursor not pick up my key?
Cursor expands ${env:RECRUITMCP_KEY} in mcp.json. A shell-style $RECRUITMCP_KEY in that file is left as text.
Is re-enriching the same person charged again?
Cached profiles younger than max_age_days are free.
Does RecruitMCP send outreach?
Not yet. Outreach is coming soon. Today RecruitMCP covers search, enrich, lists and find email and phone.
Can I test without spending credits?
Yes. Add dry_run=true to a search to see the estimate. A dry run charges nothing, and an empty result is free.
Where do I keep the API key?
In a server-side environment variable such as RECRUITMCP_KEY or a secret store. Never put it in browser code or version control.
